Behind the Magic: How a Little Fairy Cake Comes to Life

20 May 2026 2 min read

When people meet a Little Fairy cake for the first time, the first question is almost always the same: “How is this made?” The answer is part craft, part design, part stubborn attention to detail — and absolutely no two cakes are made exactly the same way.

It Starts With a Conversation

Before anything is drawn or cut, we want to know who the cake is for. A child turning four with a favourite stuffed rabbit. A grandfather who has spent his life telling fairy stories. A couple celebrating ten years in their first house. Every cake is shaped around the small details that make a moment feel like yours.

Sketch, Refine, Sketch Again

Our lead designer Ollie (yes, the same one you have seen on our home page) begins by sketching shapes, ribbons, and tiny props in pencil. We refine the design with the family — colours, themes, hidden surprises — until everyone agrees the cake captures the personality of the person it is for.

Built From Premium, Eco-Friendly Card

Each cake is hand-cut from high-grade, sustainably sourced card stock. The structure is engineered to be sturdy enough for repeated openings and gentle handling, while remaining light enough to ship safely across Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Finished by Hand

Painting, ribbons, edging, hand-applied details — every cake is finished by a real person in our Irish workshop. This is the slowest part of the process, and the one we love most. A Little Fairy cake is never “manufactured.” It is made.

Quietly Packed With Magic

Before each cake leaves us, we tuck in the agreed surprises — sweets, toys, jewellery, photographs, hand-written notes from the family. Then we package the whole thing in protective, sustainable wrapping and hand it over to our courier with the same care a small bouquet would get.

Made in Ireland, For Celebrations Everywhere

Every Little Fairy cake is designed, cut, painted, and assembled in Ireland. We ship across Ireland and Northern Ireland, and we are slowly opening up to families in the UK and Europe — always with the same Little Fairy promise of craft, magic, and a centerpiece you will keep long after the candles have gone out.
